Island Peak (6,187m) is one of the most striking and spectacular popular trekking peaks in Everest region lies in the Eastern part of Nepal Himalayan range. The Island peak climb starts from Kathmandu with a 35 minutes scenic mountain flight to Lukla, the journey begins from Lukla following the Dudh Kosi River and passing through the typical local Sherpa villages of Phkading, Namche, Tengboche, Pheritse, Labuche, Gorkshep, Basecamp and back to Dingbuche from Dingbuche we trek up to Chhukkung where we re-check climbing gears and continually trek towards Island peak base camp. We will have one more days at Basecamp for acclimatization and next day our Climbing guide takes you early morning to climb the peak.

Detail Itineraries

  • Day 01:Arrival at Kathmandu 1350m/4428ft. Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International airport in Kathmandu than you’ll be received by our official representative then transfer to hotel. Same day evening we recognize you to visit and look around at Thamel which is the main tourist hum in Nepal, overnight at hotel.

  • Day 02:Kathmandu valley sightseeing. Today is a day to explore the beautiful Kathmandu valley. We will take you into the Kathmandu valley for sightseeing. Where you will visit: Pashupatinath Temple, Bauddhanath Stupa, and Bhaktapur Durbar-square, Overnight at Hotel.

  • Day 03:Flight to Lukla (2,850m/9,350 ft) 40 minutes, Trek to Phakding (2,650m/8,690 ft) 3/ 4 hrsAfter breakfast at Hotel, we will take a short drive from the hotel to the domestic airport terminal of the Tribhuvan International Airport for an early morning flight to Lukla. After our exciting and scenic 35 minutes’ flight, we will land at the Tenzing Hillary Airport at Lukla then we will take a short break in Lukla, after break we head towards Phakding, Today, we follow the bank of Dudh Koshi River, passing through the Sherpa villages of Chhupulung, Ghat and then reaches Phakding. The trail offers some majestic and alluring views mountains and beautiful landscapes where you will see Tibetan words carved in rocks and multi-color Buddhist flags are hanging around the mani walls it makes the trek more exciting, Overnight at lodge.

  • Day 04:Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440 m/11,285 ft) – 5/6 hrsToday we will be awakened by friendly ‘Good Morning’ and have some breakfast with hot drinks, after breakfast we trek through the lush pine forest crossing the Dudkosi River, get an amazing first view of Mount. Everest, Kusum kangaroo, Thamserku, Kangtega etc and start slow and steep climb to Namche Bazar. The view is untouchable. Namche Bazaar is a capital of Khumbu region and also well known as a trading center. it’s a town with set in an arena with seeing beautiful mountains surrounding the town. In afternoon go to the market area lively scene to explore, Overnight at lodge

  • Day 05:Rest Day to Relax and Acclimatize at Namche BazaarNamche Bazaar, one of the biggest settlements in the Khumbu region, is well facilitated with shopping centers, Internet cafes, restaurants, bars, fresh bakeries etc. Although it’s rest day for acclimatization, after taking some breakfast at our lodge, we go for a short hike towards Everest View Lodge (3700m) and come back to Nachebazzar for a sight tour of the place including Tourist Visitor Center Sherpa museum, Everest Art Gallery, and national park office where we could get information about Everest climbers, Sherpa people, and their culture, lifestyle and flora and fauna of Khumbu region. Overnight at lodge.

  • Day 06:Trek to Tengboche(3,855 m/12,850 feet) – 4/5 HoursAfter enjoying early morning breakfast at our lodge, we will begin our trek to Tengboche, the trek starts with the ridge trail and flat level mountain path that offers excellent panoramas of Thamserku, Kantega, and Kusum Kangrum, Ama- dublam, Lhotse, Everest and many other snowy capped, after walking few hours on flat meander; we descend to the river and arrive at Phunki Tenga for lunch, then after lunch we climb through lush Rhododendron and pine forest to the Tengboche monastery ( The highest monastery in the world), we enjoy the 360 degrees view from here and check into the lodge. After checking the room we will have time to walk around the Monastery and take the photography overnight at lodge.

  • Day 07:Trek to Dingboche(4,460 m / 14,290 feet) – 5/6 HoursAfter having breakfast at Lodge, We descend for about half an hour through a Rhododendron forest before crossing a river. Then next, we trek uphill that as we climb higher, the landscape becomes drier. We walk past a traditional Sherpa village of Pangboche before reaching Pheriche, a beautiful village located on a riverside. Then the trail goes through a Yak pasture known as Somare then we will be leaving the trees behind us and cross a wooden bridge at the confluence of Khumbu Khola and Imja Khola. The trail continues a short climb up brings us at Dingboche. Perhaps today trek will be an interesting trek day because incredible mountain will be seen more closely, overnight at lodge.

  • Day 08:Rest day at Dingboche for acclimatizationToday in Dingbuche is the remarkable acclimatization day and there are some breathtaking views of the North face of Ama Dablam and the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge as we explore this beautiful valley. After having some breakfast we will do some hike up to ridge valley of Dingbuche village for around 200-300 meters get the great views of Mt. Makalu (world 5th highest mountain), Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kangtega, Imja peak, Lobuche East, Lobuche West, Taboche, Baruntse, Cholatse with great views of Khumbu valley. After enjoying great views of the majestic Himalayas then descend to Dingboche, Overnight at lodge.

  • Day 09:Trek to Lobuche 4,910m/16,105ft- 4hrs.The trail climbs slightly up out of Dingboche village; pass a chorten at the top then gradual up path passing the yak pasture to cross the Khumbu Khola then reach at Thugla at the end of the terminal moraine of Khumbu glacier. Now the trail leads the steep climb up to the ridge at top Chukpo Lari where we have heart poignant line of memorials in tribute to the climbers who have died on Mt. Everest expeditions since starting. The short gradual-up walk brings us at Lobuche and we have the glimpse of the border Himalayas, Overnight at lodge.

  • Day 10:Trek to Gorak Shep (5170 m/16,961ft), visit Everest Base Camp (5364m/17,594ft): 6/7 hrsToday is the most exciting and long-awaited day. Leaving from Lubuche the trail leads flat meadow for a while then following the Khumbu Glacier northwards and short climbing up. Then the trail climbs onto the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier to Gorak Shep. The path provides the superb view of massive Khumbu Glacier and trans-Himalayas. Upon our arrival at Gorak Shep check in the room then after lunch we trek to Everest Base Camp. The trail continues on the moraine of Khumbu glacier, rocky dunes, and path often change on the season because of melting of a glacier. The walk is strenuous due to thin air in the high elevation. Upon reaching the Everest Base Camp, we will be able to see the spectacular Nuptse, Khumbuste and Pumori and many others peaks then return to Gorakshep, Overnight at lodge.

  • Day 11:Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar (5545m/18,192ft) and back to Dingboche (4,460 m / 14,290 feet): 7/8 hoursEarly morning amid cold temperatures, we prepare for the 2 hours hike to Kala Patthar (5545m.) and enjoy the sunrise view over the top of Himalayas from the Kala Patthar, from here, we can witness the majestic Himalayas in 360º degree including Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lola, Khumbutse, Ama -Dablam, Tabuchi, Cholatse, Thamserku and numerous other peaks with the excellent views of Everest Base camp and Khumbu glacier after seeing the sunrise, we trek down to Gorekshep and have breakfast and start trekking down to Dingbuche and overnight at lodge.

  • Day 12:Dingbuche to Chhukung (4,730 m/15,518 Ft & 2hrs)The gradual trail leading through Imja valley with between Ama Dablam and Lhotse. It is the short trek from Dingboche to Chhukung, after reaching Chukung, we do site trip to Chhukung Ri to see a sunset on mount Baruntse, Makalu, and Ama Dablam.

  • Day 13:Chhukung to Island Peak Base camp (5,200 m/17,060 Ft & 3-4hrs)From Chhukung, gradual up will climb south on moraine of Island glacier, after while we turn east of Imja valley. The trail continuous with seeing Himalayas and passing stunning Imja Lake then reach at Island Base Camp.

  • Day 14:Base Camp to Summit and back to Base Camp then descend to Chhukung (5,600m/18,372ft & 9hrs)We will start our climbing very early in the morning and so we can try to reach the summit before noon, it is important we reach the summit before noon because in the afternoon the strong winds in the highlands might become a difficulty for a successful summit the peak. On climbing, we will be following our experienced Sherpa climbing guide, we will ascend up to the rocky ridge before coming to the base of the glacier .then using ropes we continue up the glacier to South Ridge and follow this ridge to the summit. After enjoying the summit views and taking pictures, we descend all the way to Island Peak Base Camp and trek down to Chukung, overnight at lodge.

  • Day 15:Chhukung to Namche Bazaar& 6-7hrsLong trekking day with hiking 17 km distance on downhill territory with pass ancient Buddhist monastery at Pangboche, the Sherpa believed the oldest monastery in Khumbu valley. Trek further down beautiful pasture and getting back to pine and rhododendron forest. Then visiting Tengboche monastery before traverse Dudh koshi River and trek up to Namche with climbing 300 m.

  • Day 16:Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,800 m/9,186 Ft & 6-7hrs)Last day of trek in Everest region, trail keep descend from Namche to Tadokoshi along with the milky river and exit from Everest national park at Monju. From Chhuplung we trek up through Sherpa village to Lukla, the Everest base camp Island peak journey end here with life time memories. Here comes to celebrate success party of the Island peak climbing with crew and gratitude.

  • Day 17:Fly Lukla/Kathmandu 35minutes.Today we have a scenic flight back to Kathmandu, Upon arrival at Kathmandu. And drive to the hotel. Then take a rest or shopping for family and friends. We have a farewell dinner at Thamel, overnight at hotel.

Health and Fitness requirements 

Everest Base Camp Trek is an exciting and spectacular moderate trekking destination in the world. It’s an exceptional trekking route for travelers who wish to enjoy and explore the Himalayas and beautiful landscape on this planet. This trek basically starts from low land to high land as you are hiking in these areas than you have to be fit both of physically and mentality by yourself. Every day trek prefers about 4/5 hours approx. As you hiking up to the high altitude than you have to prepare by physically and mentality to succeed the trip, our provision is making your trip reliable and remarkable without any problems in every step to step with your wealth health. Our first priority is your safety and security entire the trip. you Should convenience yourself to take some pre-training course of the trek that would be easy, considering some physical exercise like jogging, running, climb stair-case, cycling, swimming and hitting gym etc.

Accommodation during the Trek

Accommodation in Kathmandu, you would be staying at the best hotel basically 3-4 stars, on the twin-sharing basis. But Accommodations in trekking is very basic where you will get the room with pillows, warm and nice blanket, attach bathroom if it’s available with comfortable beds during the 12 days Everest base camp trek, if you are single you get single bedroom as well with hygienic food, The Menu for food and accommodation have fixed by local management community.

Passport and Visa

All clients must have a valid passport with at least 6 months prior validity from return date Nepalese visas can be obtained from the immigration office or Consulate in your country or arrival in Kathmandu Airport.

Last minute booking


Concerning your desirable interested for any trip with us we even accept the last minute booking. You can book a trip directly by calling or sending a message anytime. But eventually, Last minute booking may not acceptable for Bhutan and Tibet trip.

Meals and Drinking Water

The Everest base camp trek route has numerous tea houses along the way and every single tea houses has the menu system with different ethnic cuisines foods as well as western meals on the Menu; you could pick up any kinds of a meal as you like to have during the trek, we would highly recommend the vegetable items instead of Meat because meat in the mountain can be effected some time because it may not be used to it for the new travelers in this region. But some places provide you typical Nepali meals which are different types of international meals. These are prepared by the local supplement. Every tourist Lodge has well-trained cook basically attention for clean, hygienic, fresh and nice testy foods. The variety of drinks and every lodge have safe drinking water or minerals bottles of water you could buy. If you buy a water purification tablet from Kathmandu you can take water from the tap and purify yourself this will be cheaper and help to control the plastic pollution as well. The water you could buy everywhere in the Everest region at the reasonable price but the price would go high when you go to high altitude areas. We also recommend you to buy boiled water instead of cold which keeps your body warm.

Extra personal expenses on trekking

During the trek, all the food are included (Lunch, Breakfast, and Dinner with hot drinks) which will be provided by the company, behind the schedule of our package the meals and accommodations in Kathmandu will have to be arranged by yourself.

Possible Flight Delay in Kathmandu and Lukla: 

Sometime, the flights (To Kathmandu from Lukla) may be canceled due to the changing in unpredictable weather conditions around in the mountains. In such conditions, we Alpine Ramble Treks kindly request all the travelers to make a plan while putting at least 2/3 possibility spree days for the Everest Base Camp trek. In such case, we will charter a Helicopter to secure you are on schedule for your international flight. The helicopter can easily fly up to 1500m visibility.  You will be given cancellation of domestic flights and a receipt upon payment of Helicopter so that you may claim the amount from your travel insurance (Travel insurance is mandatory before joining Everest Base Camp Trek) 

Trekking Equipment

We Alpine Ramble Treks recommended carrying these following trekking types of equipment lists.

  • Bandana or headscarf, also useful for dusty conditions
  • A warm hat that covers your ears (wool or synthetic)
  • Sunglasses with UV protection
  • Polypropylene shirts (1 half sleeve and 2 long sleeves)
  • Fleece wind-stopper jacket or pullover
  • Waterproof (preferably breathable fabric) shell jacket
  • Down vest and/or jacket
  • 1 pair of lightweight poly-liner gloves.
  • 1 pair of Hiking shorts
  • 1 pair of Hiking trousers
  • 1 pair of fleece or woolen trousers
  • 2 pairs of thin, lightweight inner socks
  • 2 pairs of heavy poly or wool socks
  • 1 pair of Hiking boots with spare laces (sturdy soles, water resistant, ankle support, “broken in”)
  • 1 sleeping bag (good to -10 degrees C or 14 degrees F if going to the higher elevation above 5000m.
  • 1 medium rucksack (50-70 liters/3000-4500 cubic inches, can be used for an airplane carryon)
  • A small daypack/backpack for carrying your valuables should have good shoulder padding
  • 1 pair of mittens, consists of 1 Gore-Tex over mitt matched with a very warm polar-fleece mitt liner (seasonal)

Best Season

Best season for Everest Base Camp Trek is spring (Marc to May) and autumn (September to November) these months are the best months for the Everest base camp trek. The temperature is moderate in these seasons and we guarantee an amazing view and breathtaking scenery throughout the trek. If you wish to avoid crowds this trip during in winter (Dec., Jan. and Feb.) could also be the best options.
