Short Island Peak climbing is an astonishing trekking climbing peak which is also known as Imja Tse Peak situated in the eastern part of the Himalayas in the Everest (Sagarmatha) National Park. This peak has become one of the most poplars and highly climbed trekking peaks in Nepal. The Island peak was firstly climbed by the Swiss climbing expedition team in 1951 AD before they submit to Mount Everest (8848 m).

The wonderful Short Island peak climbing journey commences from Lukla with a 35-minute early morning mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, Lukla is the gateway of Everest region treks/climbing. We will be landing at Tenzing Hillary airport at Lukla and introduce with our Sherpa crew who will be part of our team to help with carrying our luggage throughout the journey. Upon our arrival at Lukla, we will take a short break then we will be following the beautiful Sherpa villages and dense forests of rhododendron, walking through the gentle ascend and few steps descends, crossing the bank of Dudh Koshi River, pass mani walls, prayer flags, and stone carvings on the way to Phakding . next days,  we will be walking in the beautiful Khumbu valley of Everest region through the Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, Chhukung, Island peak base camp, and summit to Island Peak then we will retrace after the successfully climb of Island peak.

However, during the trek, we will have a few extra days for the acclimatization and training instructor which will be provided by our professional climbing guides at Basecamp before we head off to the final destination.

Detail Itineraries

  • Day 01:Fly to Lukla 2,820 m and trek to Phakding (2,640 m) – 04 hrs.Today, we take a scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, the flight is about 40-minute itself amazing. As soon as we land at Lukla, we take a step towards Phakding for the very first night of our trekking/climbing in Khumbu region, During the walk, we will enjoy beautiful views of the terraced landscape and river valleys below, along with the scenery of the world’s highest mountains followed by a trip to Phakding (8700ft, 2650m), overnight at the lodge!

  • Day 02:Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m ) – 05/6 hrs.The second day of the journey, our walking through the magnificent forest of rhododendron, ending your nature-filled journey at Namche Bazaar which takes about 7 hrs from Phakding, Namche bazzar is also well known small town and capital of Khumbu region, view from Namche is amazing and the place is surrounded by white mountains. On the way, we can experience the scenery of blue pine forests, firs, and many more.

  • Day 03:Acclimatize at Namche BazaarWe have an easy today, we enjoy walking around the beautiful village of Namche along with the friendliness and hospitality of its local Sherpa people. Visit the local museum which displays the area’s native flora and fauna as well as the history of the Mount Everest region. As an option, we also opt hike up to Everest view lodge to see the closer view of the Everest, Ama-dlam, Thamserku, Lhotse and any other, this is a great viewpoint to witness a magnificent area of the Khumbu region!

  • Day 04:Trek to Tengboche(3,855 m/12,850 feet) – 4/5 HoursAfter having breakfast, our journey begins with awe-inspiring, unforgettable views of Mount Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Cholatse, Kantaiga, Ama Dablam and Thamserku. However, the first part of the trail will be easy and smooth on the flat land and descend for an hour and then we back up to Tengboche for 2 hours of climb. Note: we will be crossing several suspension bridges along the way up to Tengboche, Tenbuche, as soon as you reach Tengboche you will enjoy visiting the Tengboche monastery which is closed to your hotel!

  • Day 05:Trek to Dingboche(4,460 m / 14,290 feet) – 5/6 HoursEnjoy our breakfast, and after that, we take a step towards Dingboche following the several villages of Sherpa people, waterfalls, suspension bridges, and of course a nice view of the Himalayan mountains. today walk will be somewhere between 5/6 hours including a lunch stop at Somare, the trail will be gently climbing up on the mountain berain and desert with the few trees and plans,

  • Day 06:Rest day at Dingboche for acclimatizationAfter taking our breakfast in the morning, we traverse high pastureland above the village of Dingboche to the Nagarjuna hill which is located at an elevation of 5455 m, the hike from our hotel to the top takes about 2-3 hours by slower-moving pace, View from here is mind-blowing, 360-degree views will be welcomed you here! then we descend to Dingboche, overnight at our hotel.

    This day is our second important acclimatization day take hike above the village after breakfast and it’s very important to judge oneself coping with altitude properly or not.

  • Day 07:Trek to Chhukung (4,730 m/15,518 Ft & 2hrs)today, we have an easy walk for about 2 hours to the Chhukung village, on upon arrival at Chhukung, we spend some time with our climbing guide and get some ideas and instructors of the climbing guide who will be led us in our climbing for the next 2 days!

  • Day 08:Trek to Island Peak Base camp (5,200 m/17,060 Ft & 3-4hrs)After taking breakfast, our climbing up gradually to the small settlement of Chukhung. Along the way, we have great views of Island Peak and the challenge that awaits us. we will hike up to Island Base camp. Camp Another easy day, the trail crosses the river and follows the valley for approx 2/3 hours, passing beneath the magnificent south face of Lhotse. Base camp is by the side of the Imja glacier, below steep grassy slopes which mark the start of the climb on Island Peak.

  • Day 09:Preparation day at Island peak base camp Today is our toughest and most exciting day of the whole journey, the climbing starts very early in the morning crossing the gully above the camp the trail makes a climb for another hour to a narrow ridge, leading on to the glacier. Here it is time to rope-up and put on our crampons as the most interesting part of the climb begins with the glacier crossing. This is followed by the steep snow slope that leads onto the summit ridge. This ridge is wonderfully airy and on reaching the summit we have outstanding close-up 360-degree views of the mountain of Everest region. After a couple of minutes of spending at the top for the photography and celebrations, we descend to the base camp and if we are in a good shape we continually make a move down to the Chhukung for good food and good instead.

  • Day 10:Base Camp to Summit and back to Base Camp then descend to Chhukung (5,600m/18,372ft & 9hrs)We descend following the same trail as we climb up in the last few days, walking through the several villages and facing ups and down hills cases to Namche Bazzar.

  • Day 11:Trek to Namche Bazaar& 6-7hrsWe trek back to Namche Bazaar which may take us about 6 hours as we arrive here we spend our free time explore the Local market and have a good meal to recover, enjoy our dinner and evening view from the hotel, Overnight we will be accommodated at the best possible trekking lodge with including the food such as breakfast, lunch, and dinner (B+L+D)

  • Day 12:Trek to Lukla (2,800 m/9,186 Ft & 6-7hrs)After breakfast at our Hotel, start our journey back to Lukla, walking through the beautiful local villages like Jorsalle, Manju, Phakding and finally we reach Lukla and it's our ending point of the trek. Check-in at the lodge. Rest of the time, you will get own time to explore the Lukla and have some good americano, the go-to coffee shop at the nice restaurants and in the evening we will have a farewell dinner together with our crew from Lukla and Overnight we will be accommodated at the best possible trekking lodge with including the food such as breakfast, lunch, and dinner (B+L+D)

Then take a rest or shopping for family and friends.

In every trip with ART, our guides and porters will be carrying useful and necessary equipment as well as the medical kit, you will be provided by our leaders who have extensive knowledge of the first aid if required. Health and Fitness requirements 

Everest Base Camp Trek is an exciting and spectacular moderate trekking destination in the world. It’s an exceptional trekking route for travelers who wish to enjoy and explore the Himalayas and beautiful landscape on this planet. This trek starts from low land to high land as you are hiking in these areas than you have to be fit both physically and mentally by yourself. Every day trek prefers about 4/5 hours approx. As you hiking up to the high altitude than you have to prepare by physically and mentally to succeed the trip, our provision is making your trip reliable and remarkable without any problems in every step to step with your wealth health. Our priority is your safety and security entire the trip. you Should convenience yourself to take some pre-training course of the trek that would be easy, considering some physical exercise like jogging, running, climb stair-case, cycling, swimming and hitting the gym, etc.

Accommodation during the Trek

Accommodation in Kathmandu, you would be staying at the best hotel 3-4 stars, on the twin-sharing basis. But Accommodations in trekking is very basic where you will get the room with pillows, a warm and nice blanket, attach bathroom if it’s available with comfortable beds during the 12 days Everest base camp trek, if you are single you get the single bedroom as well with hygienic food, The Menu for food and accommodation have fixed by local management community.

Passport and Visa

All clients must have a valid passport with at least 6 months prior validity from return date Nepalese visas can be obtained from the immigration office or Consulate in your country or arrival in Kathmandu Airport.

Concerning your desirable interested for any trip with us we even accept the last minute booking. You can book a trip directly by calling or sending a message anytime. But eventually, Last minute booking may not acceptable for Bhutan and Tibet trip.

Meals and Drinking Water

The Everest base camp trek route has numerous tea houses along the way and every single tea houses have the menu system with different ethnic cuisines foods as well as western meals on the Menu; you could pick up any kinds of a meal as you like to have during the trek, we would highly recommend the vegetable items instead of Meat because the meat in the mountain can be effected some time. After all, it may not be used for the new travelers in this region. But some places provide you with typical Nepali meals which are different types of international meals. These are prepared by the local supplement. Every tourist Lodge has a well-trained cook's attention for clean, hygienic, fresh and nice testy foods. The variety of drinks and every lodge have safe drinking water or mineral bottles of water you could buy. If you buy a water purification tablet from Kathmandu you can take water from the tap and purify yourself this will be cheaper and help to control the plastic pollution as well. The water you could buy everywhere in the Everest region at a reasonable price but the price would go high when you go to high altitude areas. We also recommend you buy boiled water instead of cold which keeps your body warm.

Extra personal expenses on trekking

During the trek, all the food are included (Lunch, Breakfast, and Dinner with hot drinks) which will be provided by the company, behind the schedule of our package the meals and accommodations in Kathmandu will have to be arranged by yourself.

Possible Flight Delay in Kathmandu and Lukla: 

Sometime, the flights (To Kathmandu from Lukla) may be canceled due to the changing in unpredictable weather conditions around in the mountains. In such conditions, we Alpine Ramble Treks kindly request all the travelers to make a plan while putting at least 2/3 possibility spree days for the Everest Base Camp trek. In such a case, we will charter a Helicopter to secure you are on schedule for your international flight. The helicopter can easily fly up to 1500m visibility.  You will be given the cancellation of domestic flights and a receipt upon payment of Helicopter so that you may claim the amount from your travel insurance (Travel insurance is mandatory before joining Everest Base Camp Trek)

Best Season

Best season for Everest Trek is spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) these months are the best months for the Everest trek. If you wish to avoid crowds this trip during winter (Dec., Jan. and Feb.) could also be the best option.
