Overview

The 10-day Manaslu Circuit Trek in Nepal is the shortest comfortable itinerary that crosses one of the best passes—Larke Pass (5,106 m), while maintaining proper acclimatization to get this trek done in good shape.

In this 10-day Manaslu Circuit Trek, we take you by driving from Tilje or Goa Village to Besisahar instead of walking the final section. Walking might be an option, but it takes a lot of time, and the trek is going to be on a road, which is not encouraging! Instead, we arrange a jeep for our trekkers to save 2–3 days without missing the spectacular mountain scenery and spend that time visiting cultural heritage sites or visiting different places in Nepal to enhance the beauty of real Nepal!

Yes, it is possible to complete the Manaslu Circuit Trek in only 10 days. The shorter Manaslu trek itinerary is achievable because the trekking trail now ends at Tilje, where a jeep replaces the old road walk to Besisahar, so we can take a jeep to Besisahar from here. You still cross the spectacular Larke Pass (5,106 m), experience authentic Gurung and Tibetan villages, and enjoy proper acclimatization without missing the highlights of this beautiful Manalsu has to offer.

Let me tell you why this trek has been recently very popular in Nepal: it is because of the beauty of nature and culture and the high success rate of crossing the Larkya La, which is the highest point of this trek, standing at an altitude of 5106 meters.

The Manaslu Circuit Trek 10-day itinerary is the best for all of you who have limited time but still want to be part of one of the world's best, highest, and most popular mountains. We have been asked by many travelers before about the best less-crowded trekking trail in Nepal; our recommendation has always been to do the Manaslu Circuit trek, and now we realize this trekking trail is so popular among the many high-altitude treks in Nepal because people like it. We felt very proud and happy that we have always given this name to our many trekkers, and they appreciated us sharing this best recommendation, and they even thanked us in person for these ideas of doing a trek in Nepal!

In terms of difficulty for the Manaslu Circuit trek (10 days), it is just moderate to challenging. Any beginner hikers can easily do this trek as long as they are physically and mentally strong and positive. It's a non-technical hike but still takes you to a maximum altitude of 5105 meters above sea level. If you have never been to this height before, that's still fine; your guide from Alpine Ramble will guide you in the safe way, giving you all the ideas or suggestions that you need to do it.

The total distance covered for the 10-Day Manaslu Trek is about 125 km, starting the hike from Machha Khola and ending at Tilje village. This is just calculated based on our hiking times, but we still have the travel on bus and jeep to and from Kathmandu. The price is already included in the price, including your special restricted area permit for Manaslu, Manaslu conservation area permits, ACAP permit, Alpine Ramble experience, friendly guide, porter, etc. In our Manasu circuit trek 10-day program, we also provide a free sleeping bag, down jacket, and walking poles to rent.

How this beautiful Manaalsu Circuit trek, 10 days, starts: From the moment that you land at Kathmandu airport (Tribhuvan International Airport), you will be picked up by one of the representatives from Alpine. Ramble Treks and the driver welcoming you with the marigold blessing flowers and escorting you to the hotel, where you will have some good rest, and starting a tour brief by our company representative or guides to explain all the logistics and share some souvenirs to show our sign of appreciation with some handsome souvenirs from Alpine Ramble Treks' family!

The next day, you will again be picked up by your guides and helpers to start the trek, so now the real adventure is about to begin! The trail or road to travel to Machha Khola is not that fun a trip, but as you know, we are here to enjoy the adventure, so we will survive a 6-7 hour bus ride, or you can take a private jeep, paying a little extra if you like.

Machha Khola is the starting point of our real 10-day Manaslu circuit trek. This is a place with a great story where you will see the majority of the Gurung ethnic group in this little town. This village is said to be one of the largest Gurung settlements in the area, where local tourists were attracted a long time ago because of the establishment of the natural hot spring, but now it is just on and off.

The next morning, after breakfast, the first day hike of our 10-day Manaslu Circuit trip begins with full energy and joy, and our guide sings a song and takes pictures to make our first memory of the first day of the trek. We listen to our guide and his expertise as we trek towards Jagat, where we will spend our second night. It is a small village right at the edge of the river surrounded by a garrison, and this is the established headquarters of the Manaslu conservation area, where all the trekking guides get their paperwork checked and show their guiding license before they take you further on the trek.

The 10-day Manaslu Circuit Trek slowly approaches the higher area of the valley. The following days are all set to stay in Dyang, Namrung Village, Samagaun—this is the ideal place in the area where people would visit the temples and build one extra day for acclimatization, which is a must, and this is exactly what our beautifully designed 10-day Manaslu Circuit trek itinerary entails. We have such a great day here, as your guide from Alpine Ramble would give you some options as follows:

Hike to Manaslu Base Camp (4,800 meters | 15,748 feet): This would give you a chance to test your limit. The hike to Manaslu base camp is optional, but we would suggest climbing this place if the weather is clear, so you would get a chance to see the giant Mount Manaslu closely. The Manaslu base camp itself is an amazing place offering 360-degree views of the majestic mountains! It is also the best option for your body to get used to it with the thin air if you are climbing higher than where you sleep, which is always helpful to get better acclimatization! The best is to climb high and sleep low; no matter where you go, either base camp or other places, it's better to ascend about 200 m-500 m and descend to sleep at Samagaun.

Visit Pungen Gumba: It is an ancient, sacred Buddhist monastery situated right a few hundred meters above Samagaun Village, directly beneath the Manaslu Glacier. The best opportunity to learn about culture and spirituality. It is always a great option to do this little hike and gain a short elevation, a bit more relaxing than the hike to Manaslu base camp. If you are taking an easy day, then this option would be the best, so you may also combine visiting Birendra Lake and walking around the village to engage with the local people, learning their culture and lifestyle.

After proper acclimatization, we are all set to move forward to the next camp, Dharmasala. This is the highest tea house on a trek; we stay here before our final push to cross the Larkey La (5,106 meters (16,752 feet). Imagine this is the place with the limited sources or services, so we have limited tea houses where most of the time they provide a room with multiple beds for trekkers, so we basically share a room with others.

The next day, the day starts early! The big day is a bit more challenging than the usual days of the hike because we are crossing one of the biggest trekking passes in the world, with the best views and the most rewarding days that we can have as we are surrounded by the magnificent mountains whose day it is.

It would be approx. 4 hours of ascending to get to the Larkey La top; the trail is not that steep a climb; it is a gentle and gradual climb. Some parts of the climbing section might be quite hard if there is snow on the trail; this is the reason we do recommend using the crampons so that we do not fall down!

Coming for the Malasu circuit trek for 10 days in the best time, like the months of March, April, and May in the spring season and September, October, and November in the fall season, offers the best views because normally the sky is clear and no raincoat or crampons are required, but we would still suggest carrying them as a backup alongside the sleeping bag, which should work for minus 10 degrees Celsius!

Being on the top of Larke La, we enjoy the view, cherish the moment, and celebrate each other, as we all suffered a little bit coming from our comfort zone to this little bit of an uncomfortable zone in the Himalayas, dealing with the limited oxygen, cold, basic food, accommodation, and climbing up hills for 4-5 hours each day, but more than that, we came for this to change our lives and refresh our minds and souls to upgrade to a better and stronger version of ourselves, and we need to be proud of it.

Most of the lodges in this route now offer WiFi, charging your devices, and hot showers. We work with only these nice tea houses in our 10-day Manaslu trekking itinerary that have these facilities at their lodges, which our trekkers enjoy and experience even in the mountains!

We descend from the Larkey-La pass or top; it would be mostly walking downhill to get to the next town of Bhimtang, where we stay at a better tea house with good food and maybe a nice hot shower too, and of course, we can celebrate from here onwards. The next day is descending to a lower elevation to Tilje or Goa village, and for the following days, we take a jeep back to Besishar, and from here to Kathmandu, we will be traveling by bus. What an amazing way to wrap up our 10-day Manaslu Circuit trek with the combination of everything from lower to higher elevation, subtropical to high alpine valley, greenery to mountains, and city to rural parts of the Himalayas, and a scenic trek to a bit of a rough drive through the world's best part of the Himalayas! The adventure is over, and the rest will be all history!

Trip FAQs

Manaslu Circuit Trek 10 Days FAQs

Yes, 15 days is enough for the Manaslu Circuit Trek if the itinerary is paced well and includes proper acclimatization before Larkya La Pass. Current Manaslu itinerary pages commonly treat 15 days as a strong full-circuit option rather than a rushed version.

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is usually described as moderately challenging to challenging because of the altitude, long walking days, and the Larkya La Pass crossing. It suits trekkers with good fitness and a steady pace.

The highest point of the trek is Larkya La Pass at 5,106 meters. This is the toughest day of the trek and the main high-altitude highlight of the route.

Yes, the Manaslu Circuit Trek requires a licensed guide because the region is regulated as a restricted area. A guide also helps with safety, permits, and local trail logistics.

In practice, no. The Manaslu Circuit Trek permit system is tied to restricted-area rules, so trekkers normally arrange the trek through a registered agency with guide support.

The trek normally requires the Manaslu Restricted Area Permit, the Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP), and the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP). Some current trekking sources also mention a local rural municipality permit requirement.

Spring and autumn are generally the best seasons for the Manaslu Circuit Trek because trail conditions are usually more stable and visibility is better. These are also the most popular months for crossing the Larkya La Pass.

Some beginners do complete the Manaslu Circuit Trek, but it is better for trekkers with good fitness and realistic expectations about altitude and basic trail conditions. It is more demanding than many first-time treks in Nepal.

Most days involve several hours of walking, with some longer days around the upper valley and pass section. The exact time depends on the itinerary, weather, trail condition, and pace of the group.

Accommodation is usually in basic tea houses. Rooms are generally simple, and facilities become more limited as you move higher on the trail.

You can usually expect simple teahouse meals such as rice, noodles, soup, potatoes, eggs, and other basic trekking food. Menu choice is wider in the lower villages and more limited at higher altitudes.

The Manaslu Circuit Trek cost depends on the itinerary length, group size, transport type, guide and porter support, and what is included in the package. Current trekking pages usually frame price around service level rather than one fixed rate for everyone.

Yes. Even with a package, trekkers usually spend extra on drinks, snacks, charging, hot showers, Wi-Fi, and tips along the trail.

The best approach is to walk steadily, drink plenty of water, follow the acclimatization plan, and tell your guide early if you feel unwell. A well-paced itinerary is one of the biggest advantages on this trek.

There are only limited medical facilities on the route, with basic care available in some villages rather than full hospital-level services. Trekkers should carry essential personal medication and proper travel insurance.

You should pack warm layers, good trekking boots, a down jacket, a sleeping bag, rain protection, personal medication, and daily essentials for a remote high-altitude trek. Packing light but carefully is usually best.

Yes, that is one of its biggest appeals. Many current Manaslu trek pages position it as a quieter and less commercial route than Everest Base Camp or the Annapurna Circuit.

A 15-day Manaslu Circuit Trek gives a strong balance of route coverage, acclimatization time, and overall pacing. It usually feels more complete than a shortened version while still fitting into a practical travel schedule.

Yes, travel insurance is strongly recommended for the Manaslu Circuit Trek because of the altitude, remoteness, and limited medical access on the route. Good coverage matters more here than on easier low-altitude trips.

Yes, many operators offer custom options such as private departures, porter upgrades, extra acclimatization time, or added Kathmandu nights. That flexibility is common on current Manaslu package pages.
