FOODS  ON Island Peak Climbing with Everest Base Camp Trek

Trekking in the Himalayas is a fantastic adventure experience of a lifetime; for multiple days of trekking, we need a solid diet and hygienic foods to keep us strong and energized. As we trek in the mountains, our bodies need a good amount of dieting foods like protein and carbohydrates to maintain our fitness level.

The meal on this trek is convenient but might be slightly different in size/taste than in city areas.

During the trek, we had a wide selection of food items on the tea houses' menus, which originated and were prepared by the local community. The names of the most common meals in the region are given below.

Standard Breakfast options - Tibetan Breads (a fried bread in oil, it's also named Gurung bread in the Annapurna area), Chapati with Cheese (dry bread- a local wheat bread), Oatmeal, French toast with jam, honey, and peanut butter, Corn Flakes, Hashed brown, fried, Scrambles and boiled eggs, pancakes, porridge with milk, Muesli, Vegetable items and any hot drinks are available except espresso, Americano.

At the tea houses, the menu has plenty of non-veg items mentioned. Still, officially, none of the meats are on our list of recommendations because the meat in the mountains, such as in high areas, is not sanitary and healthy. However, we would like to persuade you to avoid eating meat, Alcoholic drinks, and smoking.

WATER Island Peak Climbing with Everest Base Camp Trek

Everest region has many shops or even tea houses, and you will easily find regular bottles of mineral water to buy; we have plenty of water sources along the way; refilling the water from random taps or water sources is potable, but it will be acceptable to drink with a Lifetraw or using the water purification pills. Remember, water is one of the most critical factors while trekking at such a high altitude, and it might be replaced as oxygen – at least 2-4 L of water per day is recommended.

BEST TIME  FOR THE Island Peak Climbing with Everest Base Camp Trek

Choose the best month for your remarkable trekking experience of a lifetime! Nepal has five seasons, like many other countries: Spring, Summer, Monsoon, Autumn, and Winter. Among all these seasons, there are mainly two distinct trekking seasons for Island Peak Climb with EBC - 17 Days or any region treks in Nepal, which are autumn and spring.

Spring (Pre-monsoon) – Spring includes Feb, March, April, and May; the weather in this month is mainly stable and dry with a moderate climate. This time of the year is perfect for trekking in the Everest region, as it offers a crystal clear view of the mountains and sceneries daily. The temperature can reach up to 15- 20 degrees Celsius in the daytime, and the temperature at night can drop to 8/12 degrees Celsius. The spring welcomes thousands of flora and vegetation, making the trek more beautiful and enjoyable in Nepal.

Autumn (Post monsoon)- Autumn is another great season for trekking on Island Pe; Autumn includes the months of September, October, November, and December. During the autumn, the temperatures should be rated as between 14-20 degrees in the daytime, and nighttime can decrease to -5/10 degrees Celsius, which is excellent for trekking.

Travel Insurance for the Island Peak Climbing with Everest Base Camp Trek

For safety reasons, travel insurance is mandatory for trekkers participating in trek and tour programs on the mountains. Getting travel insurance, especially in mountain areas, is like security, which you can rely on and enjoy your trip without any worries. We highly recommend getting good compressive travel insurance covering emergency helicopter rescue and medical evacuation expenses. It will be an assisted protection tour to cover personal injury, injury, and repatriation expenses, and any illness will be covered. Having good travel insurance will guarantee you peace of mind while you travel with us and provide you with complete coverage for anything that may go wrong.
