Overview

Island Peak (6,187m) is one of the most striking and spectacular popular trekking peaks in the Everest region that lies in the Eastern part of the Nepal Himalayan range. Climbing Island Peak will let you have the best mountain vistas of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama-dm, and many other surrounding snowy peaks with magnificent landscape, which gives you the best pleasure of the trip.

The Thrill Island peak climb will also let you have the delightful experience of unique Sherpa culture, Everest base camp hike, local food, flora and fauna, beautiful mountain views, and its landscape.

The Island peak climb starts from Kathmandu with a 35-minute scenic mountain flight to Lukla; the journey begins from Lukla following the Dudh Kosi River and passing through the typical local Sherpa villages of Phkading, Namche, Tengboche, Pheritse, Labuche, Gorakshep, Basecamp, and back to Dingboche from Dingboche we trek up to Chhukkung where we re-check climbing gears and continually trek towards Island peak base camp.

We will have one more day at Basecamp for acclimatization, and the next day, our Climbing guide will take you early in the morning to climb the peak.

The March-May and September to November are the best times for Island peak climbing; you can climb in this period with clear views.

Please feel free to ask us about the trailer for Island Peak; we, Alpine Ramble Treks, also customize your trip itineraries of Island Peak as per your desire and holidays.

ART recommends that you arrive in Kathmandu a day before the Island Peak Climbing trip starts. This will allow us to conduct an official orientation where we'll provide general information about the trip, introduce your trekking guide, and give you time to buy climbing equipment if needed. It's best to have a pre-meeting because you'll receive useful information and advice about the weather conditions and climate. Additionally, flights to Kathmandu from Lukla may sometimes be canceled or delayed due to bad weather conditions around the Himalayan range. Therefore, it's advisable to have at least one or two extra days before or after the actual trekking days to enjoy your holiday in Nepal without worrying about any international flight delays and missing your flight back home.

Trip Info

Foods (Meals)

Trekking in the Himalayas is an amazing adventure experience of a lifetime, for multiple-days of trekking we obviously need a solid diet and hygienic foods to keep us strong and energize. As we trek in the mountain our body obviously needs a good level of dieting foods like protein and carbohydrate to maintain our fitness level for the trekking. However, the meal in this trek is very handy but it might be slightly different in size/taste than as it in city areas.

During the trek, we have a pretty wide selection of the food items on the tea houses menus which are originated and prepared by the local community, the names of the most common meals of the region as given below.

Common Breakfast options - Tibetan Breads (a fried bread in oil, it’s also named by Gurung bread in Annapurna area), Chapati with Cheese (dry bread- a local wheat bread), Oatmeal, French toast with jam, honey and peanut butter, Corn Flakes, Hashed brown, fried, Scrambles and boiled eggs, pancakes, porridge with milk, Muesli, Vegetable items and any kind of hot drinks are available except espresso, Americano

Common Lunch options – different verity of Thukpa (noodle soup), Dahl and Bhat (Nepalese local meal), Momos ( dumplings), Tibetan / chapatti bread, Macroni, Spaghetti, Sherpa Stew, a verity of soups, steaks, potatoes items, Sandwiches, Pizza, rice with curry, spring rolls, burgers and Pizza, yak steak and desserts items.

On the tea houses, the menu has plenty of non-veg items are mentioned but officially any of the meats are not on our list of recommendations because the meat in the mountain such as high area is not sanitary and healthy. However, we would like to persuade you to avoid taking meat, Alcoholic drinks, and smoking.

Deseret and Snack options,- Rice Pudding, Apple pie, fruits snicker/ mars bar, popcorns, cake, and pastries, etc.

Hot Drink options – Varieties of hot drinks like black/milk coffees, black/mint/ginger/Green/ lemon honey teas, hot chocolates, hot mango juice, hot oranges juice, hot pineapple juice, etc.)

Note; you will be staying for 2 nights in tents with the basic meals at the base camp before we limb to the peak.

Water

Everest region has many shops or even on tea house you will easily be found the regular bottle of mineral water to buy, also we have plenty of water sources along the way, refilling the water from the random taps or water source is potable but it will be fine to drink with a Lifetraw or using the water purification pills. Remember, water is one of the most important factors while trekking at such a high altitude and it might be replaced as oxygen – at least 2-4 L water per day is recommended.

Accommodation facts

Accommodations on the mountain are very simple in tea hoses. The rooms typically only 2- 3 single beds with nice and warm blankets, pillows, comfortable matrices, attached bathrooms (not everywhere), and nice views. However, a singles private room will be provided during the trek without any extra cost for solo female travelers.

During the trek, we will ensure and accommodate you to the best available tea houses with great views of the mountain and sceneries.

NOTE: Kathmandu has a large range of luxury stars hotels offers to select for your stay. However, we will also be pleased to part of this help to make the reservations for the 4 and 5 start hotel booking as well on request.
