More Facts Less Facts

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek Trek is the perfect getaway for trekkers of all ages and experience levels.  It is short and sweet but still gives you those awe-inspiring Himalayan sceneries. The ultimate destination of the trek is to make it to Poon Hill (3210 meters), a famous lookout point to seeing Annapurna (8091 meters), Hiunchuli (6441 meters), Machhapuchhre (6993 meters), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Manaslu (8156m), and other peaks along the expansive skyline.  Throughout the short journey, accommodations are provided by the hospitable Magar and Gurung ethnic communities.

What is the trail like?

After a scenic drive from Kathmandu that carves around and over some hills, we reach Pokhara. This awesome lakeside city is an adventure destination and popular visiting place for both Nepali people as well as tourists. The first night of exploring and wandering around in the fresh air will make you grateful for such a place. The following morning, we begin our journey.  We check in and have our permits looked at, and immediately the beautiful scenery begins.  We climb through massive rhododendron forests and through picturesque terraced hillsides. In the spring, the rhododendron flowers bloom into a bright red color.  You will be mesmerized to see such a bright flower high in the hills. From Ghorepani, we begin the hike to Poon Hill in the early morning. It is best to make it before sunrise to see the rugged pigs illuminated by the light of the sun.

The People

Learn about and experience Gurung culture in Ghandruk.  They offer one-of-kind hospitality, and the village itself boasts amazing mountain views. From here, we descend to Nayapul and drive further to Pokhara. If you don’t have too much time in Nepal, or don’t have the energy to do multiple week treks, the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is perfect for you!

Best Time to Trek

The best time to do the Ghorepani Trek is between the months of October and December, as they provide the clearest skies.  The next best is from March to May.  It is possible to do the trek in other months, but ask us and we’ll give you advice and information regarding those times.

Water Meals and Drinking

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek route has numerous tea houses along the way and every single tea houses has the menu system with different ethnic cuisines foods as well as western meals; you could pick up any kinds of a meal as you like to have during the trek, we would highly recommend the vegetable items instead of Meat because meat in the mountain can be effected some time because it may not be used to it for the new travelers in this region. But some places provide you typical Nepali meals which are different types of international meals. These are prepared by the local supplement. Every tourist Lodge has well-trained cook basically attention for clean, hygienic, fresh and nice testy foods. The variety of drinks and every lodge have safe drinking water or minerals bottles of water you could buy. If you buy water purification tablet from Kathmandu you can take water from the tap and purify yourself this will be cheaper and help to control the plastic pollution as well. The water you could buy everywhere in Annapurna region at the reasonable price but the price would go high when you go to high altitude areas. We also recommend you to buy boiled water instead of cold which keeps your body warm.
