    Trip Info

    WATER AND DRINKS

With every meal, you’ll be offered plenty of hot drinks. Teahouses earned their name for a reason, and you can expect to choose from black, mint, ginger, green, and lemon teas. You can also look forward to coffee and hot chocolate. Many visitors are surprised to see hot mango or pineapple juice on the menu, but this common beverage offers all the refreshment of cold juice, along with the extra comfort that comes with drinking something warm as temperatures drop with our increasing altitude.

Of course, you’ll want to drink more water than anything else while you’re hiking the Everest Base Camp Trek. Consuming between two and four liters of water each day will ensure that you stay hydrated during each day’s strenuous trek. Many visitors stick to bottled mineral water, which is available at every trekking lodge and at various little shops in the villages we’ll visit during the trek. Each bottle costs between one and three USD, making it an affordable and safe way to stay hydrated. However, disposable plastic bottles are a waste problem in the Himalayas, and many of our trekkers prefer to drink from reusable bottles. You can obtain water from local sources or village taps, but make sure to use water purification tablets or filtration devices, such as a LifeStraw.

    PASSPORT AND VISA

Travelers to Nepal will need to produce a visa when they arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport or any of the country’s other points of entry. Most visitors will be able to obtain a visa upon arrival at the airport. Please ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months from the date of your arrival, beginning with the date that you enter the country. You should also bring an extra passport-sized photo of yourself. Visas-on-arrival costs $40.00 USD and are valid for a period of 15 days; you can also obtain a 30-day visa for $50.00 USD. Travelers of Indian nationality are not required to pay these fees, and residents of certain South Asian countries are exempt once per year. Please get in touch with us to discuss your own situation, and we’ll help you to understand what is required.

Please note: as the international situation surrounding COVID-19 evolves, Nepal’s visa requirements may be subject to change. In many cases, visitors will need to obtain their visas in advance. Please check with us to obtain the latest accurate information.

    TRAVEL INSURANCE

Travel insurance is an important safeguard for any visitor trekking in the mountains of Nepal. While Alpine Ramble Treks does not sell travel insurance packages, we would be happy to recommend some of our favorite providers. When you purchase a travel insurance policy, be sure that it covers the following contingencies: emergency helicopter evacuation, medical treatment and evacuation, repatriation, trekking, and climbing. You may need to purchase a higher tier of travel insurance in order to have these activities covered at a high altitude. For the Everest Base Camp Trek, we recommend securing insurance to cover your trekking activities up to 6,000 meters. Fortunately, travel insurance policies are easy to purchase online, and you can compare coverage between packages quickly and easily. Trekking under the protection of travel insurance will guarantee your peace of mind and protect you in the unlikely event that you need to file a claim.

    SAFETY AND SATISFACTION

SAFETY IS OUR TOP PRIORITY- NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE SAFETY AND HEALTH OF OUR CLIENTS AND EMPLOYEES.

On this trek, you will be accompanied by one of the experienced and friendly trekking guides/ Sherpa who originally come from the mountain (same region) of Nepal, the guide will be carrying all the essentials equipment with a first aid kit for safety reasons; we would like you to take some of your own personal mediation on this trek. However, in emergency cases, if our clients have any trouble with mountain sickness or any unforeseen circumstances then we will always be standing by to send a rescue helicopter to bring our clients back to lower places or Kathmandu.

Please Note: During the trek, make sure you are always in the safe zone of the place wherever you are while trekking on the mountain because you may encounter a number of mules, yaks are carrying the suppliers for hotels, Yaks Donkey and Jokpa use for the major transportations in the Himalayas region, as we always need to be aware with them, and stay at the safe place especially at the narrow section of the trail.
